Nathan D. Taylor, 39, of New Holland, was sentenced to two and a half to five years in state prison, followed by five years of probation, after pleading guilty on Feb. 27 to indecent assault, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle, failure to register with Pennsylvania State Police, and multiple traffic violations, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office.

Taylor’s crime spree began on April 7, 2023, when he ran a red light at the intersection of East Chestnut and North Lime streets in Lancaster city, crashing into another vehicle and fleeing the scene, police said and Daily Voice previously reported. Investigators later determined he was driving on a suspended Massachusetts license.

On April 9, 2023, East Lampeter Township Police tried to pull Taylor over for a traffic violation in the 2100 block of Lincoln Highway East, but he sped off, leading officers on a four-block chase before finally stopping. He was arrested at the scene.

While being held in a police cell on the 2200 block of Old Philadelphia Pike, Taylor grabbed the buttocks of an East Lampeter Township police officer without their consent, officials said.

Further investigation revealed that Taylor, a registered sex offender in Vermont and Massachusetts, had been staying at a hotel in the 2100 block of Lincoln Highway East in East Lampeter Township between late March and early April 2023 without notifying authorities, violating state registration laws, prosecutors said.

Assistant District Attorney Fritz Haverstick prosecuted the case. Lancaster City Bureau of Police Officer Juanita Martinez Bender and East Lampeter Township Detective Preston Gentzler and Officer Douglas Jaquith filed the charges.
